Cathy Van Maanen (Theater Class): |
||
Cathy Van Maanen is excited to be a part of the staff at Amy’s. Her daughters have danced here for over 10 years and she has been involved with the theater class for the last 2 years. Cathy has a BA in Speech/Theater from ISU. Most of her experience is in Children’s Theater, having taught classes for the Ames Schools Homeschool Assist Program where she also directed The Wizard of Oz, Princess and the Pea, Alice in Wonderland and Pinocchio. She also co-directed the community production of It’s a Wonderful Life in Ames in 2007 and co-wrote and directed the inspirational Christmas musical Unwrapped in 2008. Theater is a passion, and seeing kids enjoy it and become confident in their abilities is just plain fun for Cathy! |

Kelley Mills (Teacher): |

Kelley started dance when she was 8 years old at Lakeview Dance in Polk City. She then moved to Amy’s School of Dance to continue her dance education. She started with ballet, tap, and jazz classes, then moved on to the other various types of dance including lyrical, funk, tumbling, and hip hop. She has also attended many conventions and taken various workshops during her dancing career. Kelley went to North Polk High School and was a lead dancer on the school’s dance team and was captain of the color guard for two years. She was also selected to be on the all-state kick line her senior year. She attended Iowa State University for 2 years and received a minor in Spanish and is now going to DMACC to continue her learning adventure. Kelley is now starting her first year teaching at Amy’s School of dance and is the head coach of the Color Guard and Winter Guard at North Polk High School. |
